given by: | F. Moresco |
schedule: | 2017WS Wednesdays 3. DS (11:10-12:40) Lecture, Thursdays 1. DS (07:30-09:00) Excercise |
course language: | English |
room: | MBZ Seminar room ground floor |
credits: | Master students in nanobiophysics and nanoelectronic systems. PhD students in material science, physics, chemistry, electrical engineering or related subject |
summary: | In this lecture we will focus on the basics of molecular electronics. Physicals effects and experimental methods will be treated. The students will learn the main experimental techniques and theoretical tools which allow to investigate and develop electronic systems at the molecular and atomic scale.
In particular, the following points will be discussed in detail:- Electronic properties of molecules
- Transport mechanisms at the nanoscale
- Molecules as electronic devices (diodes, transistors, sensors)
- Scanning probe techniques
- Molecular contacts and controlled break junction technique
- Connecting strategies and molecular architecture
