Quantum wires coupled to quantum dots: Effects of long-range interaction

Realizations of quasi onedimensional electron systems are today suitable for investigations about the interplay between interactions, impurities and screening. We study theoretically the nonlinear properties of correlated quasi-onedimensional electrons in presence of two impurities. Treating the interactions exactly within the bosonization scheme, we present a microscopic description of the Coulomb blockade phenomenology. The charging energy as well as the spectral density of the double barrier quantum wire crucially depend on the electronic interaction. These results suggest a way to measure plasmon dispersion relation from transport experiments.
