Felix studied physics at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (Germany) and at Universität Bern (Switzerland) from 2003 to 2009. He received his diploma for his thesis with the descriptive title \u201eViscoelasticity of biopolymer solutions and the mechanical function of topoisomerases investigated with micromechanical trapping techniques, which he prepared in the groups of Prof. C. F. Schmidt in Göttingen and Prof. J. F. Marko at Northwestern University (near Chicago). He is experienced in technical aspects of optical microscopy as well as magnetic and optical trapping.
In December 2009 Felix joined, as one of six PhD students, the InnovaSens project, that aims to develop a silicon nanowire-based biosensor. In this project he will work on the theoretical modelling of nanowire-based biosensors and on the experimental developement of those.
