Stephan Roche studied Theoretical Physics at the Universite Joseph-Fourier and the Ecole Normale Superieure in France, and received a PhD in Physics in 1996. He then worked in Japan, Spain and France as postdoc, assistant professor and CEA Researcher. In 2009, he received the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel award by the Alexander Von-Humboldt Foundation (Germany) and stayed at the chair during 2009/2010. Prof. Roche is currently ICREA Research Professor and head of the Theoretical and Computational Nanoscience Group at ICN2 Barcelona, focusing on quantum-transport phenomena in low dimensional materials and nanodevices. He will stay three months as Dresden Fellow in 2014, working on spin transport and quantum Hall effect in graphene and topological insulators.
