Alejandro Santana studied Physics at the Universidad de los Andes (Bogota, Colombia) from 2001 to 2006, where he worked in the numerical studies of quantum dots under the guidance of Pr. Angela Camacho. He got his M.Sc. at the Stuttgart University, where he joined the group of Prof. Hans-Rainer Trebin. There, he primarily worked on the thermodynamic and mechanic stability of the quasicrystalline approximant phases in the Al-Mn-Pd ternary alloy. In September 2012, he joined the group of Prof. Gianaurelio Cuniberti as PhD student in cooperation with the IMPRS. In Dresden Alejandro plans to work about molecule-based quantum cellular automata.
