Dr. rer. nat., 2002, TU Dresden
Joerg studied physics at the Technical University in Dresden and there he received his diploma (1998) and PhD (2002) in theoretical physics in the field of density functional theory based electronic structure calculations of multilayer magnetic systems. From 2002 until 2007 he worked as a postdoc at our chair with Professor Wolfgang Pompe and Dr. Michael Mertig at the Max Bergmann Center of Biomaterials.br>During that time he worked experimentally on the bottom-up patterning of DNA networks utilizing motor proteins and microtubules in close cooperation with the groups of Professor Joe Howard and Dr. Stefan Diez (MPI-CBG). In 2007 he was employed at the Fraunhofer Institute of Nondestructive Testing (IZFP) in Dresden, directed by Professor Norbert Meyendorf, in the department of optical diagnostics (Professor Juergen Schreiber). The scientific work at IZFP includes bio-medical diagnostics for viruses and cancer, high-resolution near field Raman and confocal fluorescence microscopy, nanodiamonds and the utilization as nanoagents for surface modification and bio-medical applications, surface plasmon resonance and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy and surface characterisation with AFAM and ellipsometry.
Joerg is since April 2010 part time employed at our chair to coordinate the recently funded InnovaSens project which allowed us to gain a junior research group working at a novel bionanosensor platform.
