Brief Bio:

Sascha Balakin studied material science at the TU Dresden from 2009 to 2016 and joined our group in July 2016 as a PhD student within the framework of iEGSEMP. His PhD thesis deals with the biological functionalization and surface modification as well as the characterization of implant materials.
His former work focussed on metallic biomaterials and bulk metallic glasses. He finished his diploma thesis on 'Thermal stability and thermoplastic forming behaviour of Ni-free Ti-based and Zr-based BMG´s for biomedical applications' in the group of Jürgen Eckert (IFW Dresden). Before his Diploma he worked as a SHK at the IPF Dresden in the group 'Reacting Processes' and at the IKTS Dresden in the Group 'Chemical Engineering and Electrochemistry'.
