Irma Slowik studied physics at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena from 2006 to 2012. She specialized in the fields of semiconductor physics and nanoelectronics. During her diploma she worked on the topic of biofunctionalized semiconducting nanowires for biosensing application at the group of Prof Ronning. She joined the group of Prof. Cuniberti in January 2013 concentrating in studies of single molecules and small conjugated polymer chains on metals and Si surfaces via scanning probe microscopy. Imaging, manipulation, and spectroscopy measurements by STM at low temperature will allow to to study the electrical transport properties of the molecular systems, which are of fundamental importance for the development of molecular electronics.
