Nadia Licciardello

former Senior scientist

Stay period:Jan. 1, 2017 - Dec. 30, 2019
Now: Professor at University of Catania
Link to external profile: http://www.dsf.unict.it/
Group: environmental nanotechnology

Nadia studied Chemistry (B. Sc.) and Chemistry of Materials (M. Sc.) at the University of Catania (Italy) from 2005 to 2011. She got there her Master of Science degree on "Heteroepitaxial multiferroic films with magnetoelectric properties: nanocomposites and doped systems " with Prof. Graziella Malandrino. For her PhD she joined the group of Prof. Luisa De Cola at the WWU Muenster, Germany, with a project on the design, synthesis and functionalization of ultrasmall nanoparticles - mainly silicon, carbon and cobalt NPs - for imaging of cancer. In September 2012, with all the group of Prof. De Cola she moved to the University of Strasbourg (Institut de Science et d'Ingénierie Supramoléculaires), France, with affiliation also to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, continuing her PhD thesis project. Right after defending her PhD thesis, in December 2015 she joined the group of Dr. Holger Stephan at the Helmholtz Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), Germany, as a Postdoctoral Researcher. There she was working on the surface modification of ultrasmall nanoparticles with biomolecules, dyes and radiotracers for targeting and imaging of cancer. In March 2017 she joined the group of Prof. Gianaurelio Cuniberti as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer. Since October 2017, she started to lead the Environmental Nanotechnology research line of Prof. Cuniberti group. The focus of the group that she is leading is centred on the development of nanomaterials for human and environmental health.
