In April, the new dedicated high-performance computing cluster "triton" has been installed. The IBM IDataPlex-System located and maintained at the ZIH consists of 64 nodes with 2 Intel Xeon Quadcore CPUs each (running at 2.4 GHz) with 48 GByte memory available per node.
The conceptual design and the acquisition of the cluster has been realized together with the ZIH, the chair of fluid meachnics (Prof. Fröhlich), the chair of thermal power machinery and plants (Prof. Gampe) and the IPF Dresden (Prof. Sommer). The contribution of our chair has been supported by the DFG and the SMWK via the "Wissenschaftler-Arbeits-Platz" (WAP) Program.
