The second international advanced materials science networking workshop (AMASING 2103) was held on the back of the overwhelming success of the first internation AMASING 2012 workshop held in Dresden, Germany.The AMASING 2013 workshop was held at Da Nang, Vietnam.
Under the patronage of the The Institute for Materials Science and Nanotechnology of the Technische Universitaet Dresden (chair Prof. Gianaurelio Cuniberti) and the Ha Noi University of Technology (through Dr. Ngyen Minh Tan) and key sponsorship from the Deutsche Akademische Auslandsdienst (DAAD) as well as Polymath Interscience (USA), deutscher verband nanotechnologie (Germany), the IFW Dresden (Germany) and EIT plus (Poland) the opening ceremony witnessed the honourable presence of Dr. Phung Tan Viet, vice-chairman of Da Nang's people's committee, Dr. Le Quang Nam, Director of Department of Science and Technology Da Nang city and Prof. Dr. Tan Van Nam, president of Da Nang University.
In the following days the workshop featured a wealth of exciting topics from the areas of nanotechnology and environmental science. 34 lectures were delivered and treated. On Wednesday 20th March the workshop included a visit to Hoi An, a world heritage site by UNESCO. The visit was deemed to be a wonderful intermission in the scientitic lectures.
Overall the workshop was hailed a great success as a platform for effective information transmission and the establishment of new contacts with scientists in the fields of nanotechnology and environmental science. So much so was it considered a success, that it was agreed to not only establish a third AMASING workshop in 2014 but to also hold this once again in the wonderful city of Da Nang.
