Dr. Julian Thiele chosen as Emerging Investigator 2014 in Lab on a Chip

Dr. Julian Thiele, group leader at the Chair of Material Science and Nanotechnology (Dresden University of Technology), has been chosen as one of 15 researchers world-wide contributing to this year's "Emerging Investigators" issue in Lab on a Chip:
"Lab on a Chip is committed to supporting early career scientists, and it is because of this that we are both proud and very pleased to introduce the 2014 edition of our emerging investigators issue, which celebrates the best and brightest amongst early career miniaturisation scientists around the world. This issue was guest edited by Dino di Carlo, Helene Andersson Svahn and Tanti Huang who worked hard to create this issue and ensure that its content was of the highest quality."

Julian presents his work on DNA-functionalized hydrogels that are employed as artificial environment to perform in vitro transcription/translation (IVTT) of a green fluorescent protein which contributes to the design of membrane-free protocells.
