The chemical industry is still largely linear and heavily dependent on crude oil and natural gas. Raw materials, processes and products need to be rethought in order to manufacture chemical products in the future that are primarily made from renewable or recycled materials.

For this reason, the "Center for the Transformation of Chemistry (CTC)" will be established in Delitzsch as an important large-scale research center.

Together with the founding director of the CTC, Prof. Peter Seeberger, we had the honor of delivering a keynote address at the futureSAX Innovation Forum. We highlighted the pivotal significance of nanomaterials in fostering sustainable technological advancement, particularly amidst diminishing raw material resources and their crucial role in ushering completely new technologies and applications, such as the cracking the puzzle of digitising the "missing human sense" with e-noses.

This offers a lot of potential and opportunities, or to put it in the words of the Mayor of Delitzsch, Dr. Manfred Wilde:
"We're up for building dust in Delitzsch!"
