Lab-on-a-chip for microfluids applications that uses acoustic waves to promote the mixing and the movement of the fluids. The transducer that generates the acoustic waves is a piezoelectric polymer that we can process to be functionally graded for, in conjunction with the applied signal to the transducers, controlling the bombing direction and added heating. A highly selective thin-films optical filtering system allows the use of only a white light source when spectrophotometry is used as the detection technique resulting in a really portable device. Such Lab-on-a-chip devices can provide a plataform that allows reduce sample size, higher degree of integration and hence enhanced potential for automation, shortened response time, potential for improved analytical performance, reduced laboratory safety and costs. Therefore, they can contribute to a better quality in the health care services and also a better efficiency in the clinical and administrative processes.
