Publishing is an integral part of the academic research and comes in various forms and shapes.
The talk aims to present the inside works of the publishing world, the internal structures and processes that take place once a paper is submitted till its publication. We will go through strategies and key points on how to write an impactful paper that fellow scientists will read and use. Also, we will look at the criteria an author should have for choosing a journal to submit as well as the criteria an editor has for choosing to send a manuscript further down the peer review road. This talk also aims to update on the different editorial models and current status of a constantly evolving publishing landscape, such as the expansion of the Open Access model. Apart from the informative part of the talk, we will allocate enough time for holding a discussion on any part of publishing that the attendants would wish to focus on.
